Selection

The first stage of the selection process is the online application, consisting of an application form, psychometric tests and a personality questionnaire The second stage is an Assessment Day where you will carry out a range of exercises and have the opportunity to talk to graduates, line managers and members of our recruitment team.

Stage 1 - Online Application

Once you've found a suitable role you'll need to complete our online application form. You will have 28 days to complete all sections and submit the form after which your application will be withdrawn; we'll send you a couple of reminders in between as we appreciate what a busy period it is for you.

After submitting your application, you'll be asked to complete a verbal and numerical reasoning test and a short personality questionnaire. If you're applying for an engineering or construction-related role you will also be required to complete a logical reasoning test.

You'll have 14 days to do this part of the process. Practice questions are available for each test; these will appear as separate links within your account. We strongly advise you to complete these as part of your preparation. They will help familiarise you with the format of the questions and how to answer them so you'll have an idea of what to expect when completing the real tests.

After completing the above our recruitment team will review your application and aim to let you know the outcome within four weeks.

Please submit one application only - further applications will be disregarded.

Unfortunately, if you are unsuccessful we can't provide feedback on your application form. However, we will ensure you receive written feedback reports on the psychometric tests you have completed and the personality questionnaire. This will help you better understand your strengths and the areas where you can focus on improving in the future.

But succeed, and you'll be invited to an assessment day.

Stage 2 - Assessment Day

Assessment days take place at one of our offices. The day will include a group exercise, written analysis exercise, presentation and interview.

On the day you will have the opportunity to speak with some of our managers and graduates. Use this opportunity to ask as many questions as possible about our schemes and what it's like working for the Balfour Beatty Group.

Before you leave the assessment day, we'll give you an indication as to when you can expect to hear from us. Whatever the result, you will be provided with the opportunity to receive telephone feedback about your performance on the day, and you'll receive written feedback reports on the psychometric tests and the personality questionnaire you completed at stage one.
