Balfour Beatty companies involved:
Balfour Beatty Rail UK, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering and Balfour Beatty Construction Plant and Fleet Services.
Key Facts:
In October 2006, we were awarded the £363 million rail contract in a joint venture with Carillion to create the new East London Line.
This first of two phases will extend the existing line to Dalston Junction in north London and to New Cross, Crystal Palace and West Croydon in south London.
The contract involves complex railway works including track, signalling, telecommunications and electrification.
The civil engineering works include the construction of two large new bridges, new stations and a new depot at New Cross Gate.
The new line will play a major role in transporting people to and from the 2012 Olympic Games.
